Dedication of Infants/Children Dedication of infants or children to the Lord is a practice that many churches have employed to foster a culture where children are valued and the role of parents in the lives of their children is promoted. This practice is not a sacrament in the sense that water baptism and communion are and, therefore, it is not a requirement of churches to practice. For those that do, we offer these guidelines.
